Following the launch of her latest book, Come & Get It, author Kiley Reid made an appearance at the Dallas Museum of Art as part of its Arts & Letters Live series Tuesday evening.

The novel comes four years after Reid's bestseller debut novel, Such a Fun Age. I just read it in December and almost loved it, if it weren't for the ending. She also mentioned that Such a Fun Age has been picked up to be adapted into a series soon.

Reid discussed Come & Get It in a moderated conversation with Dallas writer and Young Leaders, Strong City CEO Amber Sims. The talk was held in the DMA's Horchow Auditorium with an audience Q&A at the end.

For those of us who have yet to read this book, we got a glimpse into it when Reid read an excerpt of chapter 2. For those unfamiliar with the premise of the book, it's about the relationship between college students, their financial aspirations and how money plays apart in their relationships with each other, their families, and mentors.

"I love books that broaden out, zoom out, makes me think, 'Why are we doing the things that we are doing?'" She said during the discussion.

She also mentioned how she likes to explore race in relationships and the limitations they place on people within her writing. As for Come & Get It, she spent a lot of time interviewing young people about money as part of her research for the book.

The event closed with a book signing right outside the museum bookstore. This is me asking for her advice on combatting writer's block.
